I agree with you though, better that he not suffer for an extended period... <br /><br />My parents had a dog with degenerative back problems (among other things) that really made her quality of life poor. When it got to the point where she couldn't walk at all, they called a vet who actually came to the house to put her to sleep. That sucks.
