broccolli and collard green reflux

Posted by Critter under Family

Sorry for the lack of updates this week. i have been super swamped and have had little time to come up for air. it will probably be two to three weeks before things start to lighten up.

I have still been keeping up my working out and juicing. mind you, working out at 1 AM is probably not doing anything to help me catch up on any extra rest. i probably should take a couple days off this upcoming week. i just get nervous about “getting out” of shape. I realize it is not an overnite event. It is more psychological than anything.

As I mentioned, I am still juicing. I try to have two drinks a day, one in the morning and the other around 8 PM. Since I never get to bed before 2 AM, I am not too worried about having anything in my stomach when I crash. I have reduced the amount of fruit that I juice, in an attempt to limit the amount of sugar I take in daily. I do, normally, throw in an apple or such to add a bit of flavor to the multi-colored shake o’ health. I tend to stick more with collard and mustard greens and broccoli. The collard greens make the coolest color juice. Another great side-effect of the juicing is the leftover pulp. It is minced up quite a bit and makes a splendid and scrumptious (so I think) addition to Jaeger and Jill’s food.

Talon is doing great, although he is still, at times, struggling with getting into trouble at school. For the most part, he does alright. Most of his yellow cards are really minor issues, but they are still things he needs to work on. He started his hacking cough again the other day, so I took him to the doctor’s yesterday in hopes of nipping it in the bud. The doctor says he has bronchitis, but that it is not contagious. Which is definitely a good thing, as he needed to go to school today. Not for him, but for me!

His reading is amazing. It is such an un describable emotion to hear him sound out his words and put the sentences together. I swear, I almost well up when he reads. I guess it is just a sign my little boy is growing up.

Well, I should really get back to what I was doing. I have more to write, and time permitting, will get to that later.

s.s.d.d.

well no outside anything today, the weather was total shit, cold and rainy. with of course the chance for flurries (but that is what they always say). it looks like
tomorrow will be crap too. oh well, i didn’t want to spend my weekend outdoors anyway!

question for ya. would you tan at a place that doubles triples quadruples as a payday loan, tanning salon, tax preparation and pool and spa store??
i wouldn’t. these people probably shouldn’t have.

i hope this little girl’s life pans out better than her entrance into this world started out. link

this is a cool site with some brilliant pictures of a volcano in alaska.

i need to get one of these, although it might not be a good idea, as i have been told i’ve been agro lately. would this get me in more trouble?

it is good to see they have apologized, but it still
doesn’t excuse the fact that it happened in the first place.

the image with the single marker is a small pond that talon and i go fishing at on occasion. the other image is of a place in lochmere that i drop in with the kayak. it’s not all that big, but 1 lap takes about an hour and gives a decent workout.

i pity the youth of today

them:

– A 6-year-old boy is getting a lesson on the meaning of sexual harassment long before he’ll be able to spell it.

The first-grader was suspended for three days for sexual harassment after he put two fingers inside a classmate’s waistband, school officials told his mother, Berthena Dorinvil. The boy told her he only touched the girl’s shirt after the girl touched him.

me:

you know, i can understand a suspension for bringing a gun to school, or fighting, or
selling candy, but ffs!!!.
don’t get me wrong.. yea, i realize kids these days are “older” than they are, but where the fuck do we draw
the line?

it is events like this one that really make me fear for my son in today’s society. he’s a playful kid, he
does the same things all kids do, the same things we did as kids.. he plays.. and i am sure at some point
he will push or pull.. or bump into a girl, and god forbid.

two fingers in her waistband?? he grabbed her pants *sigh* i don’t think, if i had to do it all over again
i would make it in “today’s” society.

it is amazing that my generation has even made it to adulthood. can you imagine if we had all the same
bullshit pulled on us? bah fuckin people.

we used to pick on or push girls when i was a kid, but that was just our way of “telling” them
we like them… not so much today, i guess

i have been wanting to get a juicer for quite a while. i’ve been
looking at getting the jack lalane
power juicer, and decided to finally pick it up today. i’m excited about getting a bit of fresh juice into my diet and
talon’s too! mind you, i’ll probably have to embelish on what the juice actually is.
and i will have to make sure he doesn’t see me make it lol.

i didn’t get to drop the kayak in where i wanted to yesterday. the park entrance was blocked off. i plan on calling
around tomorrow to see if i can find out when the grounds will be open so i can drop in. another option is the marina
across the road. there was a sign posted about a ramp fee of $8 but i doubt they would charge me to drop off the dock.
as well, we shall see.

I still need to come up with a name for my kayak. I didn’t get any
pictures while on the lake, for fear of dropping my phone in the water!

just kayakin’ around

i was able to get out on the kayak for about an hour or so this afternoon. the weather was perfect for it. i didn’t get out to jordan lake, instead i dropped in at lochmere. it was a small little lake, right by the java jive coffee shop, so i was able to warm up with a nice latte afterwards (omg that sounds so …i don’t know.. just wrong)
anyway.. if all goes well (weather holds up and i don’t run out of time) i am going to try and drop in over by jordan lake. figure i might do the (or a) route similar to the one in the picture above.
i’m totally hooked! what a great way to burn a few calories.. and it’s relaxing at the same time!

that’s racist!

You Americans don’t seem to be happy unless you are mucking about somewhere,” says the letter, signed by Henry Biggelsworth of Bournemouth, in the southern county of Dorset.

how the hell did Henry Biggelsworth know the sender was an american? just because the return address was in the u.s? aren’t we the melting pot? could it not have very easily have been a brit that sent it out?
ggrrr this shit annoys tfo me.

i have had the above slides for ages, but i have never properly seen them, until tonite. i picked up a cheap new scanner
that has a slide/negative tray for it. i remembered i had the slides. i had to see what they looked like. they called him “the greek”,
he was not my biological father, he came into my life when i was five. unfortunately, my parents divorced when i was around 10 (i think).
he died when i was 23. i wish he would have been able to meet talon.

the photos are from 1977. i was 5 years old.
picture 1: “the greek”, my mother, uncle butch, my grandmother, my grandfather
that will at least give you a legend for the other pictures.. the little boy, of course… me

go, go gadget racer!!

as you can see on the left, i added a small color panel to document talon’s daily colors from school. he has
been doing much better the last two weeks. i am very proud of him! i get so anxious right before talking
to him about how his day went. i know he can pull green, i also know he talks a lot.
i hate having to take things away from him, but he has to learn there are consequences if he mis-behaves. he
is getting there :) i am very proud of him
