Critter’s Krib

At least that is the way it seemed back then. We were all broke, living in the UK, but it was an amazing time. Life changing for most of us, I would say. I met my best friend, George, while I was over there, and my ex-wife, too. I definitely miss those times: Basil, eating his food off the ground. “God made dirt, and dirt don’t hurt”. Nia digging the fire pit with his hands, and using the oven rack for the grate. Kangaroo meat - Delicious!. The partying at the Pier, and the Crypt. Definitely some awesome memories.

I think if I could go back and live there now, I probably would. I am tired of the friggin “rat race” over here. Everyone is in a hurry for one reason or another. I don’t think people really take (or can take) the time to enjoy life anymore. There isn’t any “stop and smell the roses”, not anymore. We don’t even appreciate what we have anymore.

I miss my friends.

  1. Zeke Iddon Said,

Sorry, just stumbled over this and felt impulsed to add -

Life in Britain is a lot more of a rat-race that it is in America. Everything is a heck of a lot more expensive, and working forty hours a week is classed as a pretty minimal requirement just to break even. Saying that, if you’ve got truck loads of money, England is a pretty good place to make your life and kick back a bit without all the tacky ‘Walmart’ culture. It’s a great country, but going downhill pretty rapidly. It certainly ain’t no Utopia!

Just thought I’d add my two cents. Or pennies. Hope your dog’s okay!

Yeah, I can definitely understand. Mind you, we all lived in Hastings. And while it may be considered a shithole to some… life in the Old Towne was a bit more relaxed than here in Raleigh.. I definitely agree about the cost of living, though. ugh.

And thanks, she is doing much better today.
