Bad dog!

Posted by Critter under Pets

Well, she’s not really bad, she’s hurt. I went to take her out of her run this morning and she wouldn’t get up. She is favoring her hips. She was fine last nite when I put her up. I am not sure what is wrong. She is at the vet’s right now. They are going to sedate her and take x-rays.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Step away from the computer

We grabbed dinner at the new restaurant, Bentley’s. It is located where the old Houlihan’s was on Walnut, in front of Home Depot.

I was not impressed. Their menu is expensive. Too expensive for the type of atmosphere. I think the cheapest entrée was around $20. Too rich for that area.

The food wasn’t all that impressive either. When I originally asked for Tobasco sauce to put on my tuna steak, I was told they didn’t have any. I even asked at the bar if they had any for bloody marys. They said no. A few minutes later the waitress came by with, what I think was the only bottle in the restaurant. Ah well, at least I got my hawt sauce.

I doubt we will be returning there. *shrug*

And now, I am going to turn off my monitors and walk away from the computer for the night. Don’t worry, you will be alright without me.

PALMETTO, Florida (AP) — Mark Giorgio figured a 50-foot plunge was worth $20. Giorgio, 47, was counting his money and walking across the U.S. 41 bridge over the Manatee River Monday when a $20 bill blew out of his hand and flew over the rail.

He followed. And plummeted 50 feet into the river. Then he swam about 100 yards to fish the bill from the water.

“I got my money back, hell yeah,” Giorgio told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. “Twenty bucks is a lot of money when you’re broke.”

He was fished from the water by a passing Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer.

Giorgio, who said he was already suffering from a broken collarbone, refused treatment for cuts and scrapes he suffered in the fall.

It’s just good TV

Posted by Critter under Daily Life

I watch most of my TV by downloading shows via Usenet or BitTorrent, so normally I end up watching an entire season in one go. After I finish the season, I usually have a gander around to see if the next season is available. More times than not, I get into a show only to find out the show has been canceled.

Shows I have gotten into that have been canceled:

There are a couple other ones, but they evade my memory at the moment.

Shows I am currently watching:

  • CSI:Miami (although Horatio Cane annoys the shit out of me)
  • CSI:New York
  • CSI
  • LOST (waiting for season to start)
  • Prison Break
  • Weeds (just started watching this. Funny)
  • Eureka (just started this too. Different)
  • NCIS
  • Numb3rs
  • Survivor

Ok, I’m tired of linking all the shows, You can visit TV.com and look them up, if you would like.

The Simple Life

Posted by Critter under Family

At least that is the way it seemed back then. We were all broke, living in the UK, but it was an amazing time. Life changing for most of us, I would say. I met my best friend, George, while I was over there, and my ex-wife, too. I definitely miss those times: Basil, eating his food off the ground. “God made dirt, and dirt don’t hurt”. Nia digging the fire pit with his hands, and using the oven rack for the grate. Kangaroo meat - Delicious!. The partying at the Pier, and the Crypt. Definitely some awesome memories.

Timothy, Critter, and George

I think if I could go back and live there now, I probably would. I am tired of the friggin “rat race” over here. Everyone is in a hurry for one reason or another. I don’t think people really take (or can take) the time to enjoy life anymore. There isn’t any “stop and smell the roses”, not anymore. We don’t even appreciate what we have anymore.

I miss my friends.

Too much information

Or is it? I knew this information was available, but I guess I did not realize the extent of the information contained in the EXIF data of a digital image. Flickr allows you to see the camera information of images posted, unless you opt not to let it be known.

Pretty damn cool.

It’s what’s for dinner

While I enjoy a nice steak, sometimes I just go for quantity over quality. This baby is 2.89 lbs of bloody rareness.

Beef... the first red meat

BugFest 2006

*yawn* - up before the sun wakes — sleep is overrated.

Talon and I are headed to BugFest after TaeKwonDo this morning. It’s been years since we have been to it. Maybe I can talk Talon into eating a chocolate covered bug.

Getting to know you.

Logitech® Cordless Desktop® MXâ„¢ 5000 LaserWell not really You, per say. I’ve had this keyboard mouse combination for about 3 weeks now, and I am still having a bear of a time getting used to where the HOME, END, and DELETE key are.

Other than that, they keyboard is pretty nice. And the mouse, even though it is the same model as my last, doesn’t jump around the screen like my last one did.

The little screen on the keyboard isn’t really all that much of use to me. I don’t sit that far above my keyboard to be able to see it properly. I guess I’m not all that ergonomical. Other than that though, it’s pretty smooth and runs fairly well.

I would imagine that if my computer died and I needed to boot into a dos or recovery window, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse wouldn’t get loaded until windows loaded.. I’ll keep my old ones around for just such an emergency.

Not like I would ever have an emergency situation with a PeeCee.

One point five hours lost

I guess it is a good thing I start my day at 4:30 am.

Yesterday Microsoft released a “Technical Refresh” to their Office 2007 Beta 2 product. I have been using the beta 2 since it was released, and have been pretty happy with it on the whole. Outlook recently started throwing errors every time I opened it. So much that I had to revert back
to Outlook 2003.

I was hoping, with the release of the Technical Refresh, that I would finally be able to run it again. Alas this was not the case.

Due to my configuration, I had to uninstall the entire suite. Reinstall Beta2, then install the TR. Outlook continued to do the exact same thing. As soon as I opened it, I received the ole “Error blah blah… Send to Microsoft… blah blah..” Every time. It wouldn’t even open up for me in safe mode, which it automatically attempts to do after so many failed openings.

So here I sit, waiting for it to finish uninstalling. I will then have to reboot (another horribly lengthy action) I spit on rebooting. Patooey! (You can hear the spitting sound in your head, I’m sure). After rebooting, we’ll (that’s just me).. I’ll be re-installing friggin 2003.

Oh well. time to reboot.
