This irks me

Posted by Critter under Pictures

I pulled up to the Starbucks drive-thru the other day and they had a tip jar sitting next to the window. I used to work in the service, so I understand the importance to one’s income tipping can be. These people make at least minimum wage. I usually just ignore the tip jars on the inside, but putting it on the outside is just tacky IMO.

This broke my truck

Posted by Critter under Pictures

Yesterday evening I apparently ran over this lovely
gem. Just put on the spare you say? I would have, except that my spare
is currently on the front right. The tire resting where my spare
should be is flat. Yeah, I’m prepared, eh?

I was lucky enough to get towed to a service station
just before they closed. They patched the tire for $10.00 and I
was on my way.

The piece of metal that was in my tire is huge. It
was totally embedded in the tire and clanking against the rim as I
drove. I have no idea how I managed to stick my tire with this. The
AAA card is only there for size
reference.

I have been putting off getting new tires for a
while. I guess that changes today. meh.

I severely dislike popcorn

Posted by Critter under Family

No, not the buttery kind you find at the movies. I love that popcorn. I am talking about the popcorn that you find on the ceiling. That white, dusty stuff that falls off whenever you brush something against it.

Scraping it off the ceiling is was an absolute nightmare. Some parts of it came off very easily, while other parts didn’t really chip off, they more or less had to be sanded off. After doing all that we could by manually scraping, we used an orbital sander to grind down the remainder. The dust that was generated found it’s way into everything. The dust was so fine it floated into closed cupboards, the refrigerator, seriously, everywhere. We did have the kitchen sealed off with drop cloths, so
that definitely kept it confined to the kitchen area at least.

This dust will clog yer pores

We spent Friday and Saturday working on the kitchen and pretty much finished up all the remaining bits. All that is left is to throw down a layer of primer and then paint. There is still trim work to be done on the cabinets, but I have decided I would rather have a professional tackle that. Oh yeah, we still have to have the floors put in before the trim work, but I believe that is about it. Then the kitchen will be done. Next.

Here are a couple other pictures of the dust-fest after the jump.

Thought I would pass this along. This is the same machine I have and I totally love it.

An early start to the day.

Well, not really. There is a ton of sanding left to be done in the kitchen. And with everyone asleep, no work will commence until the house is awake. Not literally of course, but I am sure you figured that out, right?

Talon has had a blast with the boys. They have all been going non-stop since Thursday. The kids spent almost all day yesterday out in the yard burning leaves. I believe we smoked out everyone in the neighborhood. After the kids were done burning leaves, I gave them a one-time demonstration of the potato gun. I only shot it off once since it’s so bloody loud. The damn thing sounds like a small RPG when it goes off.

It’s 5:00 AM, I have been up for over 3 hours. I should be sleeping, but somebody snores like there is no tomorrow.

Kate and Ricky had some pictures taken of the kids. Here is one of Talon. He looks much older than six, don’t you think?

Look out ladies

I feel old.

Happy Thanksgiving

Posted by Critter under General

I hope those of you that acknowledge Thanksgiving have a safe and tummy filled day. Those of you that don’t, should stay safe and eat lots too.
