Black Friday
Yesterday was just one of those days. Although, I am not sure exactly how I could describe ‘one of those days’. It just sucked. It sucked ass, to be more precise.
What happened yesterday, you ask? Layoffs happened, and they happened big. I heard it was a 20% RIF (reduction in force) across the board. Working remotely did not help at all when the hammer fell. People were dropping like flies, and I felt like I was way out in left field, not really knowing what was going on. I won’t get into all the details just in case there are any type of repercussions for posting such data on my blog. You know how people end up getting fired for this or that.. I’d like to play it safe,
Long story short, I was one of the lucky ones to avoid the hammer. A lot of people that I work closely with were let go, and it sucks. I wish them all well, and definitely plan on keeping in touch.
Blog needs a refresh
The Single-dads.us domain name is kind of annoying me lately, I have switched all the innards over to critz.org, but IMO the blog is in desperate need of a face-lift
Maybe I can get to it this weekend.
Transformers coming soon to DVD and IMAX

Labor day has come and gone,
… time to put all pairs of white slacks in storage.

We left the house around 1:30am on Sunday morning, headed for Charleston, SC. The drive was pretty uneventful. A 2-hour nap prior to the trip along with a Spike Shooter and one Mini-Thin help to ensure I was wide awake and alert at the wheel. We stopped over at some shady hotel around 5:30am. We couldn’t get into our hotel until later in the day, so we made a small pitstop. We had planned ahead, which hotel we would stay at, but since we left the directions and the name of the hotel at home, we had to find a substitute. When I say ’shady’, I mean ‘SHADY’! It, of course, looked a lot better on the outside than it did on the indside. I felt like a fugitive staying there. *shudder* We only stayed long enough for us all to catch a couple hours of sleep, then we headed out for breakfast at IHOP. Twas good. Of course, all this time it has been raining. Yes, someone (not me) forgot to check the weather. *sigh* Oh well, we did venture to the beach, as it was only drizzling a bit. The beach, however, was barely there. So much of it (Isle of Palm, I think) has erroded away. It was a sad sight to see. |

Instead, we headed out to Patriot’s Point and took a tour of the aircraft carrier, the battleship, and a submarine that are docked there. I have several other pictures on my flickr account. It was an interesting tour. It would have been a bit nicer had we been able to take the time to read all the placards that were posted, but with two children in tow, we did not really idle around too much. |

The last day was spent relaxing by the pool and just kicking back. Monday made for a decent wind down, since Sunday was such a long day. |

One interesting thing that did happen was at the rental car place on Saturday. I was told they do not accept out-of-state driver’s licenses. uh… Isn’t that what their business is all about? WTF?!? Idiots. Enterprise sux |
