uh… I’m talking about shaving razors here. Get your minds out of the gutter.
Apparently, it is not the shaving that dulls a razor. It is the moisture usually left on the blade after shaving. To greatly increase the life span of your razors, all you need to do is thoroughly dry it.
It makes sense. *shrug* I’ll let you know how it works out. I go through razors like a madman due to the fact I shave my head every 2-3 days. And with the damn things costing a small fortune, 4 blades for $13, if I can prolong their little metallic lives, so be it.
dunno about you, but I’ve been looking into straight razors. lots of blog posts and a few sites here and there are extolling the virtues of this old-is-new-again way of shaving, but considering the razor scam we’re all having to buy into every month, maybe there is something to this whole owning one single blade thing considering that it’s easy to sharpen - no need to replace.
*shudder* I could probably deal with a straight razor on my face/neck, but the thought of using one on my head, doesn’t sound too appealing. Especially since I do most of it by feel as opposed to looking in the mirror.

you make a joke about Nair… but I’ve actually tried that once. It was a /very/ horrible experience. I had attempted to rub it all out with a towel, I had grooves of hair that remained… lost a ton of skin… it was rough.

You know, I’m glad you brought up Nair. I was actually thinking about using that stuff last summer since I keep my legs shaved half a year for cycling. Too chicken to go through with it. Now I see that I was right about the stuff.
