50,000 tickets issued in speeding crackdown
Troopers issued 51,198 charges during what they called Operation Slow Down. Of those citations, 24,274 were for speeding and 954 were for driving while impaired, or DWI.
That’s a lot of friggin tickets!

NC is only pretty for a while.
I’ve never really been much of a fan of North Carolina. I guess I have been here for about 10 years now. I don’t know what it is about the place. Not like Florida was much better. It’s hot and humid as hell up here during the summer. Winter can get pretty cold, but not “midwest cold”. The worst thing about winters here is the ice. Even as little as 1 inch can shut down the city.
Fall or autumn — I really don’t know the difference, to be honest — is a totally different beast of a season. The colors of the trees are seriously amazing. It is a short lived beauty since the leaves only remain on the trees for a few weeks. Strong winds flood the air with falling leaves, and it almost looks like it’s snowing.
Anyway… I jumped out for a quick go-round the lake in the kayak earlier this morning. It was nice to get out as it has been ages since I’ve been in the kayak. I snapped a couple of pictures with Talon’s camera (it’s smaller than mine and fits in a ziploc).
Unfortunately, I don’t think the film captures the colors as they really were…
At the back end of the lake there is a small bit that trails off a bit and meets up with a road. With water levels at an all time low, you cannot really get back there too well. There are a lot of fallen trees that litter the way. Spoooky
Don’t eat too much
The other night on America’s Biggest Loser they flashed bits of trivia up during the show. One question they asked caught my attention.
How much weight does the average American gain between Thanksgiving and New Years?
SEVEN POUNDS!!
Try not to over do it folks
Happy Thanksgiving.

Damn man, just checked out the tongue split, showed the girls they loved it. Just wanted to thank you for the great visual aid to teach them what kinda guy not to date. I owe you a fishing trip for that.
Hack, Hack, Hacking away!
Sounds all computerish and elitish, right? Bah, I wish.
Talon’s cough has really intensified this past weekend. We both tend to easily get bronchitis, so I took him to the doctors this morning. He’s clear for bronchitis, but they believe he’s slightly asthmatic. And that it is rearing it’s ugly head due to the change in temperatures. His cough is absolutely horrible, but at least that is his only symptom. Our doc prescribed an inhaler for him, and a round of antibiotics should anything flare up over the Thanksgiving holiday.
He’s overly enthused about his inhaler. He should be doing a puff during school towards the end of the day, but I’m not sure he’s old enough to treat it serious enough. Plus, I am not sure how the school handles medications and such. I figure a puff just before he gets on the bus and as soon as he gets off the bus and he should be good to go.
Ah well, we are off to pickup Phoenix shortly. He’s been sick, as well. Hopefully he is feeling better.
Getting old…
means drinking the coffee even when it’s gone cold.
