Critter’s Krib

I’ve never really been much of a fan of North Carolina. I guess I have been here for about 10 years now. I don’t know what it is about the place. Not like Florida was much better. It’s hot and humid as hell up here during the summer. Winter can get pretty cold, but not “midwest cold”. The worst thing about winters here is the ice. Even as little as 1 inch can shut down the city.

Fall or autumn — I really don’t know the difference, to be honest — is a totally different beast of a season. The colors of the trees are seriously amazing. It is a short lived beauty since the leaves only remain on the trees for a few weeks. Strong winds flood the air with falling leaves, and it almost looks like it’s snowing.

Anyway… I jumped out for a quick go-round the lake in the kayak earlier this morning. It was nice to get out as it has been ages since I’ve been in the kayak. I snapped a couple of pictures with Talon’s camera (it’s smaller than mine and fits in a ziploc).

Unfortunately, I don’t think the film captures the colors as they really were…

At the back end of the lake there is a small bit that trails off a bit and meets up with a road. With water levels at an all time low, you cannot really get back there too well. There are a lot of fallen trees that litter the way. Spoooky
