Old times… just like yesterday

Posted by Critter under Critter

A couple of mates from the old FDM days were in town this weekend. We were finally able to sort out a time for us all to catch up and grab a bit of lunch yesterday.

It’s been about 5 years since we have all been able to catch up, and except for us looking a bit older, you wouldn’t have known any time had passed at all. Well, ok.. except for Slava going from his usual half/half tea to a raspberry foo-foo thing.

Peter flew down from Canada, he obviously doesn’t get down that often, but we do plan on meeting up the next time I am out in San Francisco. Scott lives in Charlotte, which of course, is only about 2 hours away. Sad that it has been 5 years, but between work and hectic schedules… it is hard to coordinate. Slava and I do meet up monthly for lunch since he is local, though.

It was a short, but great time. It’s true, though… what they say… ‘the more things change.. the more they stay the same

I need to work on staying on contact with my friends better. It’s too easy to get caught up in the happenings and stress of everyday life.

Wow… if I mention moving again.. please kick me in the head. mmkay? While moving to a bigger place is great, moving itself is such a P.I.T.A. I will be glad when it is all sorted. My next move will include paid workers. This I can assure you.

Oh yeah… Happy Easter to those that celebrate it…

Wow, the change from one industry to another is totally mind blowing. My previous job was just dead, absolutely dead. This job… not so much… the deadness.

We’ve just released version 1 of our widget builder. This version is very basic and easily allows users to add their videos to their websites. I am already working on easy integration of Seesmic with several social media sites and ton of new features for the widgets. Stay tuned.

Oh… and I move this weekend. I hate moving.

Last night, I attended the 1st Triangle Tweetup. I would have to classify it as a success. Wayne Sutton did an excellent job of pulling it all together.

Prior to the tweetmeetup a bunch of us met up at McGregor’s Draft House for a quick pint or two. I arrived a few minutes early, and not really knowing what anyone looked like, I parked myself at the bar. I kept scanning the area for people that look like the might ‘get twitter’, but you really can’t stereotype that can you? While enjoying my lovely pint of Stella, I tweeted “… I’m the one with the hat… and a couple tattoos”. Not even a minute or two later, someone tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was Critter? I was. The group was right behind me. Introductions were made — and I have to say this now, folks.. I suck at names. faces.. yeah… I can do faces.. names.. I are bad — and light conversation was made. The group quickly grew, so everyone moved outside for food and a bit of clear air.

fast forward a bit…

At the event location, name tags were applied and more mingling commenced. Introductions were made and we began. I have to admit, I have a hard time in general remembering what all was talked about, but I do remember all the conversations I had with people at the event.  I did a demo of Seesmic and showed off my Seesmic Racoon (you had to know it would make an appearance). Oh, I just remembered some of the things we talked about. *whew* I am not loosing it!

Anyway.. it was a great event, and it’s always nice to put faces with.. @names. Speaking of which… I ran into a guy I worked with back at MCI back in the early 2000’s — small world.

So thanks to all that worked to pull the event together. Well done.

Pictures on flickr tagged for the event.

Still not sure what Seesmic is?

G4 aired this the other day.

Things, lately, have been pretty hectic. Posting videos let’s you know I am still around and kicking, and someone else has done all of the work. Double win.

I didn’t feel like staying up late last night so I crashed by 11pm, but due to my effed up sleeping schedule, I awoke at 2am. Yay! Not really, but I do feel pretty rested, so I guess that’s ok. I guess we shall see as the day progresses.

I’ve had my head down into the computer for the last week, unless I was running around with the bois.

ack! I haz writerz blok. *posts more videos*

Oh well. we are moving in a couple weeks. Excited about the move, just not excited about the moving. Especially my couch. I hate my couch. It’s ugly. It’s heavy. It’s ugly and it’s heavy.

I have two snakes that look like they might be preggers. I guess we shall see in a few more week. I know you can hardly wait.. sokay. I keepz you informed.

I got nothing else to say.
