Fresh skin
Posted by: | CommentsThe babies started their first shed today, which means they get their first meal tomorrow. I am sure they would be /so/ excited! If only they knew..
I need to get my lighting sorted better for the pictures, so that I do not have to use the camera flash. It drowns out their colors.

and then there were nine
Posted by: | CommentsAs you can see in the post below. Our snake started to have her babies today. At least that is what we thought. After waiting a while to see if any others popped out, I had a quick look under all the newspapers and saw a small clump of baby snakes.
I called Talon over so he could see them huddled up under the papers. He was just as excited as I was!
I pulled ‘mom’ out of the cage and then grabbed all the babies, sifting through all the aspen to make sure we didn’t miss any. She had a total of 9 babies and 1 slug (a slug is an undeveloped ovum?)
The video above is just a small one I captured from my phone (and yes, I realize it cuts off at the end).
I told Talon that he can pick out one of the babies and keep it as his pet. He was very excited when I first told him, but then he became pretty upset because he couldn’t keep /all/ of the babies! Silly boy.
I didn’t have anything in the tubs for reference, but trust me when I say.. they are tiny.
We’ll keep you posted.

Hi! I’m a single girl and I’m 26 years old. Please take a look at my pictures and let me know if you like them! I live in Russia and I’m going to come to your country and work over there very soon! I don’t know anybody over there and I thought it would be great to meet someone who is open to anything (as I am!). I would be happy to be friends, lovers or create a serious relationship! We will see what happens! I hope you will write me back and I will write more info about myself and send more photos!!!!!!!!!!! I am writing from my friend’s email address, so please make sure you do not reply directly to this email. Email me at gvolleyrdk@yahoo.co.uk only. if you don’t use my personal email address then I won’t be able to read your reply and write you back. So it is very important that you get it right. Ok, I guess it is now your turn. Hope to hear from you today. Bye!! btw, i got your email from dating website
And guess what? Ms. Buttercup has even included a picture!! So we know it must really be her typing me an email from her friend’s account!

Just curious, has anybody ever replied to one of these emails? I think I will this time. I’ll keep you posted!

at a loss for words?
Posted by: | CommentsThat can’t be right, can it? More often than not, I stare at the screen. There are a ton of things I would like to tell you. Maybe just to get it off my chest, but I never do. I stare at the screen for a few minutes, and then I just shut down the program.
Have I ever told you how much I hate the mornings? That’s not to say I am not a morning person. When I wake up, I am up. I enjoy my coffee, but it’s not always needed to get me going.
There is that one brief, moment, even before I open my eyes, where everything is peaceful and content. In a flash, though, the peace is gone and the reality of life slams into play.
and with that… I really can’t squeeze out anything else this morning.. I’ll leave you with a pictures of Talon and Phoenix… those always make me smile.

A Serial Killer is Born
Posted by: | CommentsI will let you know in advance that this post does not have a happy ending. I have been AWOL from the reptile forums that I visit for some time. I just haven’t had it in me to visit them lately. Hell, I have even thought of getting rid of most of my snakes. Lately, with the amount of stress that I have had to deal with, I have found it slightly relaxing to browse the forums, read posts and look at some of the pictures that are posted.
I stopped by a popular Red-Tail Boa forum this evening and one of the first posts I came across was from a friend of mine named Rick. I met Rick online about a year and a half to two years ago, when I purchased Razz (pictured below) from him.
She is a beautiful snake with a great disposition. Her mother was an F3 Albino named Aurora owned by Rick. Aurora ran into a bit of trouble within the last couple years. I believe she formed a cyst or something on her side and had to go through a couple surgeries before getting back to her normal self

You can see her scar in the picture above. Rick went through a very long recovery period with her. That scar was pretty much an open wound for the longest time, but he mended her back to health.

(This is the most recent photo of her with her last batch of babies)
Well, long story short.. apparently Rick was on his way to the vets with her in a duffel bag. He had run into a store to grab some coffee and when he came out she was gone. Somebody had reached in the open window and stolen the duffel bag. He spent several days papering the town with reward posters and scanning a ton of online ads hoping she would show up.
(more after the jump)
