This past Tuesday, Phoenix had a Thanksgiving Lunch at his daycare. He hadn’t napped properly the day before, and had apparently not slept all that well the night before so he was pretty tired. When I arrived all he wanted to do was leave. He cried and cried. He settled down a bit and attempted to eat, but he only ate the pears (I think they were pears).
I snapped a few pics with my camera. I really like this one. I’ll post more later.

Hernia surgery has been scheduled
I am set to have surgery for my lingual hernia on Wednesday, December 3rd. They are planning on doing a laparoscopic procedure. Dr. Bruce will screw a mesh over the opening, rather than attempting to close the opening. Apparently closing of the defect will just lead to the possibility of another hernia, so mesh it is! I am glad to hear they are not ‘cutting’ me open… I know chicks dig scars, but I already have enough of them.
I was going to ask them if they would take pictures during the procedure. Maybe they can still do something with the scope. *shrug*
Wierd Al sings it best
Of course, doesn’t he always? Weird Al rocks.
I’ve lost a bit of weight and a lot of my jeans just hang. It’s annoying, yes, but I just can’t be bothered to buy new jeans. Anyway… I happened to glance down the other day and noticed that the left side of my stomach was bulging out in an odd way. I pushed on it with my hand and watched it disappear. I then tensed up my stomach and *pop* it came back out.
This can’t be good.
A quick self-diagnosis aided by the internet, Kelli’s mom, a few twitter friends, and I had come to the conclusion that it was a hernia.
It was a Friday afternoon and the medical supply store was closed until Monday, and none of the local pharmacies carried hernia belts. I ended up purchasing an ACE bandage and strapped things together with that and a small bit of duct tape. That was sufficient until Monday arrived.
We postponed our Monday workout until the evening so that I could acquire the belt first. I drove, first thing, to the local medical supply store and bought my hideous belt. Although, horrible as it may look, it definitely does the trick.
My close friends have been instructed, should I require transportation to a hospital or anything of that nature, to remove the belt and save me from a lifetime of embarrassment.
Long story short… It has been confirmed by my doctor that it is a Lingual Hernia and the only way to fix it is surgery. I have a surgical consult setup for this upcoming Tuesday.
I am looking forward to getting it fixed. My doctor said that as long as it can be pushed back in, it should be fine. But it has had it’s moments of uncomfortableness. I have to literally push it in and hold it in place to blow my nose or cough (and shit too… I know.. right?)

This one is just too awesome to keep to myself
Phoenix is totally rockin’ it!
I should have been better about posting during my last round of P90X. This go round, I shall do better. Swear.
Meghann and I just began our second round. We chose to take a week off after our first round of P90X and then hit P90X Plus. Yesterday was our first day, and it kicked our asses. We decided to do the Lean Plus routine. Yesterday began with the Total Body Plus workout. It is what it says. Total Body! Holy crap… I was dragging. There is an exercise in the routine called 3×3, where you do squat, pushup, pullup for about two minutes. Sure.. it sounds easy..
Anyway… I’ll keep you posted.
Here is Phoenix doing the ’superman’
Here is Phoenix doing some pushups.
At least I have my health!
Well, the recent turn of events in my life were pretty much unexpected. In fact just a couple of weeks ago during an ‘all hands on’ meeting we were assured (after the first 3 layoffs) that there would be no additional cuts to the company. Amazing what can transpire in just a couple of weeks.
I am having a bit of difficulty figuring out exactly what path I want to take with my career now. I have thoughts of going out on my own as a consultant, but that is almost best done if I have built up a bit of a bank. In addition to having a bit of savings to live off of, should work not pour in, I am not sure how the courts measure your income for child support.
It has to be tough enough wondering where your next job (meal) is coming from, but what if I am gauged at XXX amount, and I only bring in XX. Am I still responsible for child support based on XXX? Does that make sense? It does in my head *shrug*
I am definitely not putting all my eggs in the consultant basket. I will take whatever comes along. We’ll see…
And now, onto the good news! This is the last week of P90X. I am happy to have made it this far. And I am very pleased with my results. Meghann and I will be taking a week off and then we plan on starting the P90X Plus. It’s funny to have grown to love a workout that you hate so much!
I never got around to cutting and posting my 60 day pictures. Perhaps I’ll get them sorted and up the same time we do our 90 day pictures.
Like I said (and you can see by the picture below), I have had good results.. we both have. But we want more! Neither one of us watched our diet as closely as we could have, but we plan on keeping to it as strictly as possible for our next go round.
I want a single digit body fat percentage! oh… and I will have it

When it rains it pours, right?
So, Friday sucked. It was on my way to an appointment with my lawyer when my phone rang. It was my boss. Hmmm I remembered an email he had sent around earlier that morning saying that there would be a big meeting for the San Fransico. At first I thought they wanted me to be in on that meeting, then it hit me.
All before I answered the phone.
I knew. I was about to be let go. My boss never calls. The call lasted 6 minutes. I was right.
When I was let go by First American in March this year, I had done a video on Seesmic saying that I was just made redundant and if anyone needed a developer… I was your man. Seesmic hired me two days later. That Skype call lasted 22 minutes.
I don’t believe I will be doing a video this time.
Here is a link to it on TechCrunch. The comments make for an interesting read.
Got work?
