One day and a wake up

Posted by Critter under General

Talon’s new bed arrived the other day. If I have time I will pick it up tomorrow evening after work. I cannot wait until he sees it. He
has been asking about getting a bunkbed for ages, and I am sure he has absolutely no idea he is getting one.

I had looked online for them, but I could rarely find what I wanted for under a $1000. I had remembered seeing one at
Childs Space a while back. The one I wanted was originally marked at just under $800, but was on sale that
weekend for just over $500. Couldn’t pass that up, now could I? Cha-Ching!

I’ve loaned the Ghila Monster to Kate and Ricky for a couple of days. Their van is dying.
Ricky took it in today and the mechanic said the transmission only had about 10 miles left on it. And to fix the transmission will cost them
a hefty $4,000. Ouch! Then Ricky drove the van home and used up 5 of the 10 miles the mechanic said it had left. Tsk, Tsk. So now if they
need to trade the van in, they can only do so within a 5 mile radius of their apartment. Slim pickings, me thinks. I would throw some *octane boost
in that bitch and race like a bat out of hell to a dealership.

The weekend is almost here. Can you feel it? Oh man, I sure as hell can. I have a shitload of DIY
projects that I need to get started on back to. Hopefully the weather holds out somewhat. If it is rainy and dreary out, I will
only be motivated to sit on my ass in front of the computer, which will drive me nuts. Arg! If my neck wasn’t still totally fux0red, I
would definitely be slipping ye ole kayak into the waters of yon
Jordan Lake.

Rock on, folks.

* I am not sure if putting ocane boost in the car will help in anyway, I just thought it sounded cool when I thunk it.

Oh how I feel I never have time to write anymore. If I only had a speech to text program, then
life would be oh so much easier, seriously..

This has definitely been one of the longer weeks I have experienced lately. My neck has been totally
tweaked for most of the week, add to that I have a bit of skin cancer removed from my back, yeah, my body
feels pretty sore. Perhaps, I am just getting old. What makes me think that you say? Um.. all the grey
hairs popping up, and the two huge white patches that pretty much cover the beard on my chin.

I do have a /ton/ of work to catch up on, not like I feel like it, but I guess it has to be done. At least
I have a few shows lined up for my viewing pleasure while I work: (the eastenders is not for me, I swear!)

I know, I know. You missed me, right? Whatever.

I am not even sure where I left off last. Nothing too new or exciting is going on. I have been pretty busy
the last few weeks. I wanted to workout this evening, but after only one set, I felt absolutely no energy
or motivation to continue. I gave up for this evening. Perhaps tomorrow I will have a bit energy. Yes, that’s it
tomorrow will be it.

At this moment in time, I am sitting here watching this evening’s episode of LOST. I cheated and read a couple
of reviews on the web already. I know what to look forward to, but I will/am still enjoying it.

Earlier I watched an episode of that American Inventor show. While I am sure I will continue watching it, I am
not all that impressed with it. The chick judge is annoying. Everybody is crying at the drop of a bucket. The
contestants that are not selected for the next round are just irate and rude in their exit interviews. Even
this young kid ran his mouth a bit. Plus some of the shit people are bringing to the table is just… strange.

The ghila monster is finally running and on
the road. Hopefully this will allow me to save a bit on gas. I swear I have been filling up every 4 days. A
full tank runs $50-$60. Sick!

I do need to get a set of clips so that I can transfer my kayak rack from the truck to the car. You can see
the rack on the truck in the pictures. I have to
use a small step ladder to reach the one on the truck properly. The car should be a bit easier.

Well, it appears I have bored us long enough. I have a bit of a write-up about the
media centers I have been looking at. Perhaps, I
will get that posted by this weekend.

later.

You know what I forgot?

Remembering the simpler times.

Talk about depressing. I don’t think there has ever been a time where I have looked through old photos and not felt depressed.

They just always seemed like easier times. Life was more relaxed. I was able to go out with friend, have a great time, and stay out all nite (my old body says no to that one).

This grown-up bullshit, is not all it’s cracked up to be! While it is nice to have things, there are more times than not, where I would just love to lead a simpler life.

These pictures are a few years old, but seeing them again does make me smile. I can’t wait to get back to the UK to visit my mates.

p.s. I miss my local!

I are tired. I is too

I finally had a bit of time to get out on the kayak with Talon the other day. The weather was somewhat sunny, and the wind was
pretty calm. Talon really enjoyed himself, and has been asking to go again every day since. Hopefully, we can get out this weekend, weather permitting.

The other day I had to pick up another
camera. This thing is wild,
it has actual face tracking. Which means the damn thing follows you around as you move. Did I mention this thing is wild? Ok, how about freaky?
While the technology of it all is cool as shit, it is just a tad bit unnerving, to constantly hear the gears grinding away as it follows you around.
I turned off the auto-tracking shortly after installing it.

I still need another 4 hours of the day to finish my work. Aw hell, I would settle for 3 hours. But right now, I want to settle for some sleep.
I am tired as shit. I want to sleep.

I will write something more interesting tomorrow, I promise. Oh well, to sleep I go.

My son’s school describes an unexcused absence as the following:

“(A) student’s willful absence from school with or without the knowledge of the parent” or absence for any other reason than the seven listed under excused absences.

Their seven reasons for an excused absence are:

  • Illness or Injury
  • Quarantine
  • Death in the Immediate Family
  • Medical or Dental Appointments
  • Court or Administrative Proceedings
  • Religious Observance
  • Educational Opportunity

Nothing too serious with all that. And being that Talon is only in kindergarten, I am not too worried about him not being at school without his mother
or myself knowing about it.

This afternoon I received an email from the school that stated:

The consequences for tardies will be as follows:

  • Parents will be charged $25 for 3 unexcused tardies for first period of the morning.
**Lower school students will be fined without detention.
  • Students will serve after-school detention for 3 unexcused tardies for all other periods.

I have to be honest, I am quite shocked and extremely upset at the first point. It’s not that I have to worry about this myself, as
Talon and I get to school with plenty of time to spare. But who do they think they are to “discipline” the parents by charging them
money for tardiness?

I can see giving kids detention (the older ones) for being tardy to class, but charging a parent money! Absolutely absurd. If they do this,
I wonder what they will start charging for next?

I have actually just completed and sent in Talon’s registration for next year, but after receiving this I am not 100% certain I want him to continue
there. I am not so much worried about the money, but it is the principle.

G.I. Joe Commando is decades old

Sage advice from singer Jim Croce. He also says we shouldn’t
tug on superman’s cape or pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger.

I am going to add something to that list. Don’t stop taking your antibiotics before they are finished.
And now, I shall learn from my mistakes. I quit taking my month’s supply of antibiotics after only a week (at most).
What can I say? I was feeling better, and just did not think of it much. Last night I noticed my sinuses were
feeling a bit off, and I continued to experience pain from a headache pounding in my sinuses from earlier in the day.
This morning when I awoke, my head felt like someone had kicked me several times in the head with a large
jungle camo Marine Corp boot. I know, right?

You know what “going commando” is, right? Of course, you do. Get this. It has been over a year since I have been to see my dermatologist.
Crappy insurance prevented me from going to him, but now that I am back on BCBS, I can start
going back. Yesterday I finally got around to getting into his office. I was sitting there chatting with the nurse for a bit before we got started
on everything. As she walked out of the office she said

“You know the routine, strip down to your underwear, and the doctor will be in here in a few minutes”

“That is not a routine I remember!?

She then explained I was having the full body inspection.

Honestly, a bit of panic set in. “I, uh, I don’t wear underwear”, I said.

“Oh, that’s alright, you can wrap up in that sheet on the table, over there”, she replied, as she left the room.

Sheet? What sheet? Oh, you mean this see through flimsy toilet-papered piece of material? The butcher paper they use
at Macaroni Grill is thicker than this!

The exam went off without a hitch, and I was able to stay covered up properly. Due to stress and a chilly temperature
in the doctor’s office, I cannot imagine it would have been one of my finer showing moments. ha!

They did take 4 biopsies of some spots. Two on my chest and two on my back. I am not too sure about the ones on my back, but I bet
the bottom one on my chest comes back positive. It’s just the way it looks where he has removed the biopsy. Most of them seem to come completely
off when biopsied, this one looks to go a bit deeper. Oh well, I am not too worried. I have lost count of how many I have had biopsied that
came back positive for Basal Cell Carcinoma.

You know, I do not even think about going out in the sun anymore without a boatload of protection on. Mainly because of my tattoos. I have a ton
of money invested in them so I really don’t want them fading too much. Mind you, it’s not like it matters much. The skin damage I suffer from
now is a result of over exposure to the sun from decades ago. (Wow, that is the first time I have ever used the word
decade. I feel old.)

Well, I should really go take my percocet, place my dentures in a glass of efferdent, and take out my hearing aids and retire for the night.
(since I am feeling old)

twas but a long weekend, sir

that’s right! drink up. it is good for you i promise. it will aid in the development of strong muscles and sturdy bones.

it has been a long weekend, and not in all that much of a good sense. i ended up working extremely late (or early… depends on
how you look at it) friday, saturday, and sunday. i am still a bit tired from it all. i definitely will not be
staying up as late tonite.

i have been looking into getting a kayak for a while. and finally decided i would take the plunge and get it this weekend.
sunday was the first chance i had to go out. i drove out to jordan lake, but the weather was quite windy, and the water
was very choppy. i decided to drop in at lochmere. i put the kayak in the water and slid in. not even thinking..
in a flash i had started to drift away from the dock, so i reached for my paddle, which was sitting on the dock. reaching,
as it turns out, was not the best thing for me to do!! i wasn’t even in the water for more than 2 minutes and i had capsized!!!
and, holy shit!!! that water was cold, nay, strike that, freezing! i had one heavy work boots, jeans, and a heavy top (under my
life jacket), all of which soaked up the freezing cold water like a sponge! but that wasn’t stopping me, dammit!! i paddled around
for an hour or so. i can’t wait until i get another chance to go out.

the camera i purchased off
of ebay.com finally arrived. it was shipped out on the 9th of
january. FROM BOONE, NC!!!!! get it? hell.. i think i could walk to boone in a day! and this camera floated around the postal
stystem for almost a month. oh i can’t wait to send out some letters so i can pay more for postage… it is so greatly deserved. bah!

ah well, time to go work out. then sleep.

fight back
