2nd-Grader Suspended for Drawing of Gun

DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A second-grader’s drawing of a stick figure shooting a gun earned him a one-day school suspension.

Kyle Walker, 7, was suspended last week for violating Dennis Township Primary School’s zero-tolerance policy on guns, the boy’s mother, Shirley McDevitt, told The Press of Atlantic City.

Kyle gave the picture to another child on the school bus, and that child’s parents complained about it to school officials, McDevitt said. Her son told her the drawing was of a water gun, she said.

A photocopy of the picture provided by McDevitt showed two stick figures with one pointing a crude-looking gun at the other, the newspaper said. What appeared to be the word “me” was written above the shooter, with another name scribbled above the other figure.

School officials declined to comment Friday. A message left at the superintendent’s office Saturday was not returned.

Kyle drew other pictures, including a skateboarder, King Tut, a ghost, a tree and a Cyclops, the newspaper reported.

I guess I will have to monitor what Talon draws now. If he keeps drawing guns, I will have to smack his hand with a ruler, or perhaps hold food back from him for a couple of days. That will teach him to try and be creative. I should probably also punish him for shooting those little Nerf darts with that Nerf air gun I bought him for Christmas last year.  That said, I should probably go and turn myself into the police for buying him such a toy weapon that, according to ‘them’ will cause him to one day flip and go on a rampage.

Fucking idiots. People should be ashamed of themselves. Haven’t we robbed enough of our children’s youth? Kids probably rebel more because of what we limit them to do, then what we are (and I use this phrase loosely) ’saving them from’

Shame on you.

Third time is a charm.

Bad title… I know. I understand one shot, but three?

“The three gunshot wounds to the head included two nonfatal rounds with entry points below the chin, and one fatal shot that entered Peterson through the right side of the head,” Van Hollen said.

Deputy apparently shot self after rampage, says attorney general - CNN.com

What the hell is going on?

For the 4th time in one week a child has been injured at the hands of an adult. The first 3 resulted in fatalities.

Are we that stressed out that we can’t control ourselves? WTH? I live with a lot of stress, but it never gets to that point. Unreal.

Boy kills snake at petting zoo

David Pescovitz:A young boy stomped and killed a 10-foot-long python featured in a petting zoo at a Catholic school’s festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. House of Reptiles owner Scott Braunstein had brought snakes, alligators, lizards, spiders, and frogs to the St. Bernadette Festival as he has done for several years. The boy apparently told Braunstein that he hated snakes before, allegedly, expressing his dislike in a much more physical manner. From the Associated Press:

“The next thing I know … the kid raises his leg and stomps down on the snake’s head,” Braunstein said. “The snake started convulsing.”

Braunstein said he saw a man grab the child and say, “This is why I don’t take you anywhere,” before disappearing.

I really don’t know what to say about this. I honestly cannot fathom something like this happening. I have taken my reptiles to several places to show and educate children. I don’t know what I would do if something like this were to happen.

Seriously… You would think he would notice a thing like that?

I am speechless

I don’t even know that I have a comment for the following story that is not filled with curse words. What the hell was she thinking?

Do not play with this cat!

Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

What if you were a nurse or doctor sitting there eating lunch one day and the cat came and snuggled up next to you? *shudder*

Man gets sick benefits for heavy metal addiction

Published: 19th June 2007 15:12 CET

A Swedish heavy metal fan has had his musical preferences officially classified as a disability. The results of a psychological analysis enable the metal lover to supplement his income with state benefits.

Roger Tullgren, 42, from Hässleholm in southern Sweden has just started working part time as a dishwasher at a local restaurant.

Because heavy metal dominates so many aspects of his life, the Employment Service has agreed to pay part of Tullgren’s salary. His new boss meanwhile has given him a special dispensation to play loud music at work.

“I have been trying for ten years to get this classified as a handicap,” Tullgren told The Local.

40-Year-Old Former Teacher Marries 16-Year-Old Student :: WRAL.com

WILMINGTON, N.C. — A 40-year-old high school science teacher and cross country coach has resigned his position and married a 16-year-old student.

Brenton Wuchae coached Windy Hager at South Brunswick High School, where she recently completed her sophomore year as one of the school’s top runners. He also lives less than two miles away from the Hagers’ home on Oak Island.

Wuchae married Hager in Brunswick County on Monday, according to a marriage license.

Hager’s parents, Dennis and Betty Hager, said they did all they could to keep the couple apart after noticing a deeper-than-usual friendship forming between them. The parents said they tried to intervene by talking to the coach, going to school officials, pleading with police and sheriff’s office detectives, even other teachers and students at South Brunswick.

But the Hagers say they reluctantly signed a consent form allowing their daughter to marry her coach.

Obviously I do not know /all/ the variables in the story, but I do not understand the bolded line above. They reluctantly signed consent? She was underage, even if he ran off with her wouldn’t that have been kidnapping? I don’t get it.
