I have finally accepted the fact

Posted by Critter under Talon

That my son will never be an acclaimed artist, or even a gifted doodler, for that matter. It also appears he might be slightly confused with the proper function of genitalia.

ooooh... they are on and off knobs

Talon watches Nickelodeon /all/ the time. As far as he is concerned the television only has channel 43. When he gets the chance he visits ‘Nicktropolis‘. It’s a flash based site that allows kids to play games, create rooms, have virtual pets, and more… It also allows kids to chat with each other on the different screens. Today someone popped up a chat with Talon.

them: Hi, how are you?

Tal: Good. how are you?

them: Good. I am a 14-year old with no social life.

Talon left the chat after that, and I didn’t give it much thought at the time.

On the way home, it popped into my head, and the person’s phrasing struck me as odd. It just didn’t seem like something a 14-year old would say. Who knows… I could be wrong, but with all the wack-jobs out there you never really know. And it wouldn’t surprise me in the least for some creepy pedophile to hang out on a site like that.

*shrug*

And he’s off!

Talon first day of 2nd grade

Yesterday was Talon’s first day in 2nd Grade, his first day at a new school, and his first day of riding the bus! Talon handled it all in stride, unlike me… a slight bundle of nerves all day. He had a good day, and seems to have enjoyed himself quite a bit.

He only had a small paper to fill out for homework last night. One of the questions on it was:

If you could change your name to anything, what would it be and why?

Talon’s answer: “I like my name”.

*shrug* it just made me laugh.

Long time no see

I hadn’t realized how long it has been since I have posted.

Talon is headed back to school in a week. Based on the fact that Talon and I are very similar in nature, just 30 years apart, I know have an idea of what my mother went through during summer vacations, and why when people asked when school was starting back up, she would reply with “Not soon enough”.

He’s done pretty well, though. I have kept him busy at home doing a bit of book work for a couple hours a day. Not too much, mind you. I didn’t want to totally squash his summer.

We did brighten him up with a new look for summer as well.

I meant to post this up the other day, but I became a bit swamped with planning a quick trip to Philly.

Can you guess what yesterday was?

I’ll finish this up later…

Transformers - You must go see it!

Posted by Critter under Talon

I received an email a couple of weeks ago notifying me of a pre-opening showing of Transformers. Talon and I arrived 2 hours before the movie was scheduled to begin, thinking there would be long lines. There were not. They had it playing in 3 theaters and only had about 200 tickets pre-sold.

The movie was amazing. Just awesome, Talon and I both loved it and cannot wait to see it again!

Two Brothers

Please stop talking.

Dude, that is all I ask. You know when you are allowed to speak and when you are not. You know that you are in class to learn. You are not in an all day recess class.

You know I love you to death, you mean the world to me, but I am seriously stressed. You do so well when you apply yourself, yet everyday you return from school having been talked to about your speaking out of turn and disturbing the class. I know where you are coming from, though, daddy heard these same things when he was your age. You have to buckle down though. There are times during the school day when you can talk. Hell, I am pretty sure when you are at recess you can run and scream! But the middle of class, man, is not one of those times.

You have been “grounded” in the past for constantly getting talked to, about talking. You have been rewarded for not getting talked to about talking. I am not sure how to even handle it anymore. I know you can do it, you have done it in the past, when you put your mind to it. You can do it when you try. I get the feeling you are not even making an effort lately.

For daddy’s sake and sanity, please stop talking when you are not supposed to.
